Mission Statement

The mission of this ranch is to preserve and promote the mountain horse of the Appalachians. It is not our goal to strive for excellence in breeding but rather to define it. Our mission is a two part adventure.

First, we are trying to preserve the accepted bloodlines of the breed from the foundation stallion, Ole Tobe, by acquiring the very best mares as far back as we can go into each line of his sons. We have mares that are direct foals of Blue Mountain Rumbo, Clemon’s Tim, Buddy Roe, Choco Dock, Amigo Blue, Smith’s Ginger, and Johnson’s Toby. We are looking for a mare from Yankee. We will breed these mares to a top stallion in their lines to produce a foal that will continue to carry the line’s gene pool in a high percentage. All of our mares are triple registered in all three mountain registries: the American Gaited Mountain Horse Association, the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association, and the Rocky Mountain Horse Association. All of our mares are certified foundation mares in the KMSHA and two of them are foundation mares in the RMHA.

Secondly, each mare is carefully matched with a stallion in the industry outside her line that will give her the best chance to have a foal with world champion potential. Mares and stallions are matched according to blood lines, color, conformation, gait, height, and past show ring performance. The ease of transportation and artificial insemination makes this a reality. We have already had foals to become champions!

We will be breeding our world champion stallion to some of our mares but not all of them. This breeding concept has produced excellent foals for us so far.
